Day 34 - Off to Paris

Off to Paris today .
Left the hotel and caught the TGV to Paris.

The first part was sunny then it was very misty.

Arrived in Paris.

Spent the rest of the afternoon at the airport trying to get on a flight.
We failed but now have a proper seat on flight tomorrow....  Home soon.

Day 33 - Montpellier in the rain

Today was a day to explore Montpellier.
We had seen it in the sunshine so the rain was a bit different.

We then explored a new area called Antigone. An amazing promenade of huge buildings. At the end we found a restaurant to warm up in.

Every so often along the promenade were fountains.

This is the end.

Later in the afternoon we caught a tram around the city. Each line has different coloured trams.
This brown one is line 4.

These are the flag ships of the lines.
They run on line 1 and 2.

Of course we had to visit the old part. We were always discovering new lanes.

Typical French balcony.

 Painted buildings .

Last dinner in Montpellier .
In the Place de la Comedie.

We learnt that this was a white pizza.

Day 32 - the Beach

Beautiful and sunny so off to the beach.
It was  6 c at 9 am when we left Montpellier but we didn't let that put us off..

We had to take a tram to get out of the city and then a short bus ride to get to the beach at Palavas les Flots.
Didn't quite go to plan as the tram hit a car. Very little damage but it took about 20 mins while they exchanged details !!
So we missed the connecting bus .
Our only choice was to wait 2 hrs for a bus or walk .
We walked and it was amazing.

We passed a canal connected to the Canal du midi.

Brought back memories. A bit windy.

Then we reached the beach .

Looking towards Palavas les Flots.

I couldn't resist a paddle. It was getting quite warm walking along the beach.

We finally arrived . It took about 2 hrs.

A nice salad by the canal.

There was an observation tower which gave a fantastic view over Palavas .

Views in the town.

Then off home . No problems with cars, trams or buses.

Then we explored some more of Montpellier before dinner. It was much busier tonight.

We found the medical school which is one of the oldest medical schools in the western world . Founded in  the 12 th century.

Attached is a huge Cathedral with a huge entrance .

Then dinner at an lovely restaurant .

I had the most amazing lamb shank and vegetables ..

And Chris had risotto

Very nice, on of the best meals yet.

Day 31 - Goodbye to Les Aresquiers.

We were up early and packed and off the boat by 9 am.

A taxi took us to the station . Jo headed for Toulose and we were going to Montpellier via Narbonne.

We arrived in Montpellier about 2 pm and spent the afternoon exploring the town.

Place de a Comedie

We then did the touristy thing and caught the 'Noddy' train. We really enjoyed it and learnt a lot about the town.

Another Arc de Triomphe based on the original.

The old quarter

Then back to the Place to Comedie for dinner.
